Acknowledgement of Country
“We respectfully acknowledge the Wiradjuri people, the traditional custodians of the land upon which we gather. We pay our respects to Elders, past, present and future, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and hopes.
We extend this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people present. We also remember the Josephite Sisters who have gone before us.
We pray that Saint Mary MacKillop of the Cross will watch over us and that her life of service to others be a continuous source of inspiration for our actions”.
May we walk gently on this land.
The school was established in 1908 by the Sisters of St Joseph from Perthville. The order was founded by St. Mary MacKillop and Father Julian Tenison Woods. The Sisters of St Joseph play a vital role in our school, their love and dedication to our school is invaluable to both students and staff. The school is one of thirty-five Diocesan Schools administered by the Catholic Education Office, Bathurst.
Our Mission & Values
The purpose of the Catholic School is related to the mission of the Church to enable children to know God and to live in communion with Him, and to understand the world in which they live in light of the Gospel.
Catholic Schools share in this mission by their commitment to helping spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. Special times are set aside for the teaching of Religion along with Mass and Sacramental Preparations. All children are expected to attend and participate fully as possible in Religious Education instruction and activities.
St Edward’s Primary School strives to develop the whole person; socially, intellectually, spiritually, physically, emotionally and morally so that each may be able to become the person he or she is called to be. This is a special characteristic of a Catholic School.
Our Mission Statement
The St Edward's 'professional learning community' will provide a quality Catholic Education and ensure high levels of learning for all students.
The School Motto is ‘For God and For Country’.
